Dax Corven
Gunner of the Wayward Star
Dax Corven is Sera Venn’s gunner, a scarred working soldier whose loyalty is measured in the positions he holds and the people he helps keep alive.
Dax arrives at Kestrel with the battered Wayward Star. At the sealed airlock he stands beside Sera with a compact rifle, ready to force entry until Rook explains that damaging the door would endanger residential sections. The exchange places his directness beside the civilian consequences of force.
He becomes part of the station’s defence alongside Sera and Rook. His work is immediate and physical: a weapon, a barricade, an endangered medical section. He belongs to the crew that has already paid for its survival, rather than to the hidden House command structure travelling with it.
Sera Venn: captain and primary command relationship.
Halden Rook: fellow defender with local garrison knowledge.
Joel and Anton: encountered as passengers before their House identities become known.
