Elara Vos
Captain of ISS Wayfarer’s Debt
Elara Vos commands a small ship carrying ambitious House cadets. She makes them answer to maintenance, inventories and the captain’s judgement before family names.
Elara brings an engineering report to the programme’s review: missile certification, cutter seals, coolant and a sensor controller. Her initial mission combines medical-freighter escort with investigation of missing miners. The command provision explicitly protects her authority from interference by trainees.
Rescues and further contracts carry Wayfarer’s Debt far beyond its original operating area. Elara’s attempts to turn home meet further emergencies, but she continues drills, watches and machinery checks. At Calder Reach and the Keros Grave she commands the ship through the consequences of helping Varek and Aster-9.
House cadets: trainees under her command, not superior officers by birth.
Mara, Sera and Joel: programme participants who establish her command protection.
Varek and Aster-9: people her ship helps under mounting pursuit.
