Marek Soren is a restrained intelligence director whose knowledge of covert operations makes him more dangerous—and more valuable—than his helpless appearance suggests.
Introduced as Holt’s prisoner, Soren describes his former responsibility for covert operations, warrants and payments. He knows how to make information change the behaviour of a room. Even in a collar and cuffs he can expose risk, bargain for attention and complicate his captor’s contract.
His transport becomes part of the Ardent investigation. His usefulness as an information source must be kept separate from innocence or reliability. Records, testimony and what the other characters have actually learned should govern each revelation.
