Overview

Enormous, red-skinned, ork-like beasts bred for war: massively muscular raiders whose savage appetite for battle drives the Garooth clans.

Full account

The Garooth are enormous, massively muscular, ork-like alien beasts bred for war. Their thick red skin ranges from dark brick red and deep crimson to scorched burgundy. Broad jaws, cheek ridges, blunt tusks, heavy hands and thick necks make their beastlike anatomy unmistakable. Scars, soot and burns never replace their red complexion. They are living war beasts beneath their salvaged armour, not robots or ordinary human-sized soldiers.

War is the purpose for which they are bred. They laugh under fire, roar challenges across open channels and charge breaches with savage delight. Their size and strength make close combat terrifying, but fury coexists with experience: a raider may patiently stalk a crippled transport. Pain tolerance is not immunity; overconfidence kills them.

Their clans follow salvage and industrial opportunity rather than fixed imperial borders. Dead anchorages, wreck belts and captured foundries feed mobile fortress-convoys. Their hardy colonial spores and developing broods still need heat, water, nutrients and shelter; food, labour and repair capacity keep the convoys alive.

A High Ravager holds a convergence together through intimidation and the distribution of captured machinery. Ravagers command its major formations. Furnace Wardens control fabrication, Breachmasters direct entry teams, and rakepacks supply ordinary fighting and salvage companies. Rivalry can break an apparently unstoppable assault into quarrelling bands.

Cragmaw Holds favour armoured boarding; Ventlash Runs prize violent pursuit; Brassfang Leagues hoard valuable components. Hookrunner Crews salvage under fire, Hushcutter Knots use false signals and stealth, Stonehide Broods prize endurance, and independent Driftcutters sell temporary allegiance. These affiliations all belong to the Garooth.

The Skirr pursuit corvette, Clampjaw boarding frigate, Cinderback missile barge and Kilnback forge tender express the fleet’s four familiar jobs: catch, breach, suppress and rebuild. Individual vessels remain irregular assemblies of captured hulls and machinery.

Their Clamp-and-Carve assault anchors into a target, cuts its defences, opens separate breaches and seizes power and fabrication. Red-skinned breachguards, striphands and veilstalkers serve the same appetite through very different equipment and methods.

Garooth engineers sharpen a strong mechanical intuition through harsh apprenticeships and repeated repairs. Their machinery works through redundancy, stolen components and tolerated failure, not belief or magical colours. A veteran’s equipment and experience matter more than size alone.

An unsecured battlefield is their next supply depot. Opponents must recover valuable wrecks, protect damaged ships and secure prisoners and infrastructure. Winning the exchange of fire without controlling its remains can feed the next incursion.

The ground-force sheet shows a breathable-environment equipment inspection. Exposed faces and arms do not replace sealed protection for boarding or vacuum operations.
