Overview

Strength creates obligation. An isolated human commonwealth survives through mutual support, chosen communities and fleets built to keep functioning after catastrophe.

Full account

The Talyrn endured centuries of separation after authentication chains and relay contact vanished. They call this the Severance. Their seven major inhabited systems form the Odrava, with Vaerith as their ancestral centre and Khal Veyra as its capital. Three functioning Varanthi-era transit complexes remain within their domain; the purposes of other sealed installations are uncertain.

Their maxim is Vael en Var — None endure alone. Food worlds, extraction settlements, factories and fleet yards deliberately depend on one another. The Continuance treats strength as an obligation to those who make survival possible.

The Aruun combines chosen family, mutual aid, education, apprenticeship and civic representation. Adults affirm membership and may transfer. Refugees and outsiders can become full members; the temporary Seyr distinction then disappears. Aruun cannot hold sovereign territory, strategic weapons or independent gate authority.

The civilian Avarin directs government and diplomacy. The Veyr-Khal coordinates strategic defence, while the Ordan represents systems and communities. Unrestricted offensive war requires civilian authorization. Vaerath can temporarily integrate authority during existential emergencies, subject to independent approvals, judicial oversight, review and expiration.

The Seven Vael are Preserve, Prepare, Teach, Answer, Recover, Remember and Account. Power increases scrutiny. Medicine, teaching, engineering and rescue carry public honour alongside military service.

Seythar distributes authenticated command and mission intent across several nodes. Losing a flagship does not automatically paralyse a formation. A recovered commander must pass identity, neurological-integrity and authority checks before resuming command. This complicates Seraph infiltration without making the Talyrn immune to it.

Deyr are professional personnel; Kharven are heavy intervention infantry. The rare augmented Thyrak fight, rescue, repair and stabilize situations that overwhelm ordinary forces. Their Orun-Khal armour carries a Saev archive of failures and disciplinary decisions as well as victories and recoveries.

The First Kharad saved lives through an augmentation programme that also coerced children and refugees. Its exposure became a lasting public shame. Modern recruitment requires consent and independent oversight. Necessity explains an act; it does not absolve it.

Recovery matters more than a glorious death. Yet obligation can become coercion, Aruun influence can become tribal, and emergency habits can outlive emergencies. The central danger is deciding that others have no right to refuse rescue.

Ardenvast is the intended point of renewed contact with the Known Reach. Its opening and the first encounter remain prospective story direction, not an already completed event or alliance.

Seryth · Corvette

Seryth · Corvette

Find danger and reach survivors first.

Compact forward sensor head; clearly separated aft propulsion block. Keep the hull broad within its small size.

Limited staying power. It observes and responds; heavier ships handle sustained fighting.

Varyk · Frigate

Varyk · Frigate

Protect the ships beside it.

A low, wide protective hull with repeated defensive positions distributed along its flanks.

Moderate offensive weight. Its value falls if deployed as an isolated heavy attacker.

Kelvar · Destroyer

Kelvar · Destroyer

Disable a dangerous enemy ship.

A strongly directional bow: the viewer can tell immediately where its heavy fire is aimed.

Heat accumulation limits repeated heavy attacks. It needs the formation to create its firing opportunity.

Othrenn · Cruiser

Othrenn · Cruiser

Coordinate a task force and hold its line.

A balanced, compact line hull with several protected sensor and communications positions instead of one towering bridge.

Less concentrated firepower than a specialist cruiser. Distributed command still needs authentication and viable surviving nodes.

Vaelkar · Capital ship

Vaelkar · Capital ship

Give the formation a heavy protected center.

The deepest, broadest armored mass in this lineup, with layered sides and recessed propulsion.

Lower acceleration. It cannot chase lighter formations or make the whole fleet invulnerable.

Thalen · Assault carrier

Thalen · Assault carrier

Deliver intervention teams and receive evacuees.

A broad hull whose repeated launch and recovery mouths are readable from the side.

Escort dependent. Knife describes the intervention mission, not permission to charge unsupported into enemy guns.

Saervan · Tender

Saervan · Tender

Keep the fleet repaired, supplied and alive.

A service-oriented hull with protected cargo masses, conspicuous docking access and a clearly usable repair interface.

Limited independent combat ability. Supplies, time and recoverable damage constrain what it can restore.

Deyr · Professional personnel

Deyr · Professional personnel

Fight, secure and perform practical field work.

The lightest silhouette in the Talyrn military comparison; exposed equipment access and manageable working bulk.

Ordinary personnel have ordinary physiological limits. Do not imply Thyrak augmentation.

Kharven · Heavy intervention infantry

Kharven · Heavy intervention infantry

Bring protected force and heavy equipment to the breach.

A clearly powered, load-bearing silhouette, heavier than Deyr; equipment mounts remain practical rather than ornamental.

Armor, power and equipment impose bulk. They are not automatically augmented Thyrak.

Thyrak · Augmented intervention specialist

Thyrak · Augmented intervention specialist

Keep working where ordinary responses have failed.

Articulated Orun-Khal armor with close-mounted intervention equipment and readable access to tools. Avoid simply making it the largest suit.

Rare, costly and accountable. Damage, fatigue and competing rescue priorities remain consequential.
