Overview

Eight major worlds and several billion people sustain a sovereign homeland behind the controlled Winter Road.

Full account

Vintergard is a living society of cities, farms, hospitals, universities, industrial communities and inhabited stations. The military protects this civilization; the civilization does not exist merely to serve the military.

Vinterholm is the ancestral homeworld. Its capital, Vinterkrona, grew around a mountain fortress and remains a functioning city with schools, markets, civic halls and ordinary family life. The Crown of Winter is its principal orbital nexus.

Smedja supplies refining and heavy industry. Edenfall maintains food security. Neridia supports ocean resources, biology and medicine. Jarn supplies strategic metals. Together with the inhabited Forge Belt, they distribute production across the system.

Valdyr’s Great Yards are hundreds of slips, repair frames, factories, tenders and industrial settlements. Hjarta anchors the Shield defence region; its moon Skold supports training and mobilization. Nattheim remains a remote classified region.

Tens of thousands of inhabited installations spread civilian life and production beyond planetary surfaces. Trade is useful, but agriculture, repair and industrial depth allow the homeland to endure isolation.

The Winter Road is controlled access through ancient transit infrastructure. Knowing the astronomical location does not grant entry. Route geometry, credentials and defensive dispositions remain undisclosed.

House historians connect the system to an older Varanthi support complex. The exact founding year is unknown, and generations of House engineering built the modern civilization. Its strength comes from accumulated work rather than an unexplained technological inheritance.
