Full account
Above the tundra of Skold, the sky itself is armed.
The Frostbastion-class Aerial Dreadnought was built for one purpose: keep fighting where ground bases cannot survive.
Eight armored lift engines hold the platform above blizzard fronts and fractured ice fields, while redundant thrusters keep the immense hull level through crosswinds violent enough to tear lighter aircraft apart.
It is not a carrier in the conventional sense. It is a mobile fortress.
Two flight decks run along the upper hull, launching reconnaissance craft, strike squadrons, boarding shuttles, and low-observable interceptors directly into the storm.
Beneath them sit ammunition vaults, field hospitals, maintenance bays, command rooms, fuel reserves, and enough spare parts to keep an isolated air group operating for weeks.
Frostbastions are most often seen over Skold during winter mobilizations, shadowing House training formations across the frozen ranges. But in wartime, they move with the front.
They can reinforce a fortress. Cover an evacuation. Deploy marines behind an enemy line. Or simply remain above a battlefield long enough to make everything beneath them someone else’s problem.
They are slow. Enormous. Impossible to hide. That is deliberate.
A Frostbastion does not survive by pretending it is not there. It survives by carrying enough armor, redundancy, and firepower that everyone below wishes it wasn’t.
Among Skold pilots, there is an old saying: “If the Frostbastion is overhead, the weather is no longer the worst thing in the sky.”
