Overview

The armoured House transport that carries two hundred elite troops, Christer and Daniel von Hjertstedt through the Coalition screen to Kestrel.

Built to arrive

Hrafn Spear is a fast troop transport of House von Hjertstedt. Its long, narrow hull combines powerful engines with heavy forward armour and minimal broadside weapons. The design prioritizes getting soldiers through a hostile screen and into a docking collar, rather than trading broadsides with warships.

The Kestrel deployment

During the battle for Kestrel, Joel orders Hrafn Spear to break from the House reinforcement formation and make a maximum-burn approach to the medical-sector military collar. Its orders are to deploy immediately, prioritizing Medical and Central Habitation. The transport reports two hundred troops available; this is the force aboard for the operation, not an established maximum carrying capacity.

An escorted run through fire

Three Coalition frigates turn to intercept. Vigil frigates destroy incoming missiles, with one interposing its own hull between the transport and the salvo. Hrafn Spear takes a shell against its forward armour and another across its port side, but does not slow. An Oath cruiser disables one attacker’s drives with a spinal shot, a second Vigil cripples another’s fire control, and the third attacker turns away. The transport passes through the opened corridor at full thrust.

Two hundred House troops

Hrafn Spear docks at Kestrel’s military collar and delivers two hundred troops. Chapter 1 describes Iron Guard forming the forward wall, Black Guard moving into side passages and security access, and Crimson Guard holding the centre. The number assigned to each formation is not stated. Christer von Hjertstedt and Daniel von Hjertstedt arrive with them, a fact Joel did not know when he ordered the deployment.

A transport, not an extra combat hull

Hrafn Spear is a named transport operating with the House fleet. It is counted separately from the fleet’s combat ships. Its survival on the approach depends on speed, forward protection and coordinated escort action. The account does not specify penetration, casualties or system losses from the two shell strikes, nor does it establish dimensions, crew size or a formal transport class.
