Overview
House von Hjertstedt’s heavily armoured anti-Seraph troops, deployed in Hunter Lances to recover hosts, break Husk Guard and secure contaminated ships and vaults.
House anti-Seraph specialists
Seraph Hunters are among House von Hjertstedt’s oldest anti-Seraph formations. They are deployed when infection, host recovery or extermination exceeds the capabilities of ordinary marines. Their targets include host nests, corrupted command decks, sealed vaults and dangerous breach points.
Proctor-class hunter armour
Their massive Proctor-class suits combine layered bronze-black plate with wards, null projectors, reliquary seals and cognition systems. Their equipment includes warded shields, swords designed for anti-symbiote combat, incinerator cannon systems, reinforced thrusters, null filters and redundant optics.
The three Hunter Lances
Lars authorizes three Hunter Lances during the Ardent crisis. Duskbringer is assigned anti-boarding and host termination at Bastion, with twelve suits dispatched. Exterminatus Seal goes to Central for ship clearing and vault recovery. Purifier is held in Gatehold reserve for laboratory purges and breaches into contaminated infrastructure.
Specialists with limits
The Hunters are not deployed as ordinary line infantry. Marines hold the wider station while the Hunters tackle the most dangerous contaminated spaces. Their armour does not make them invulnerable: the novel describes Husk Guard exploiting a damaged hip joint, and another Hunter losing an arm while rescuing his comrade.
